Gas fireplace repair in Provo

Provo's fireplaces aren't Orem's fireplaces. Older houses, more rentals, and a lot of units nobody has serviced since the last tenant.

I drive to Provo from Orem constantly. It's the next city south, and the work is different enough that I don't pretend it's the same housing stock. Around downtown, Joaquin, and the older brick streets, I see gas logs and inserts dropped into masonry fireplaces that have been in the house for decades. The venting story and the access are not what you get in a 2005 production home. Grandview and the neighborhoods climbing the east bench have their own mix of remodels. Down toward the river bottoms and the newer builds on the west side of Provo, the fireplaces look more like the rest of Utah County's builder units.

Rentals are the Provo-specific problem. A fireplace near BYU may have gone through several tenants who either never touched it or used it hard and never had it looked at. Landlords call me when a tenant says it smells or won't light, and they want a straight answer, not a sales pitch for a new unit. New owners call me the week they move in because the seller said "the fireplace works" and nobody knows what that meant. Both of those are good reasons for a safety check before anyone lights it for a movie.

The failures themselves are familiar. Pilots that won't stay lit. Clicking with no ignition. Remotes that were zip-tied to the side of the insert and still have the factory batteries. Soot on glass because the logs got shoved out of place when someone cleaned. I fix those. I don't do a song and dance about replacing the whole fireplace when a thermopile will do.

If the house is an older Provo property and you're not sure the fireplace is even gas, say so on the phone. I work on gas fireplaces only. If it turns out to be a wood fireplace, I'll tell you up front and point you to a chimney sweep. The details of a gas repair are on the fireplace repair page. For Provo, the useful thing to know is that I'll come from Orem, I'll work on the older stuff and the rentals, and I'll talk to you directly.
