Gas fireplace repair in Utah County

Won't light, pilot won't stay lit, clicking with no flame, a weak flame, or it shuts off by itself. I fix those.

Gas fireplace with the glass off and ceramic logs set aside during a repair

Gas fireplace won't light, or the pilot won't stay lit? This is one of the most common calls I get at the start of the season. I'm based in Orem, and I handle gas fireplace repair across Utah County. Standing pilot or electronic ignition, insert or built-in, I start by finding out which one you have and what it started doing.

A lot of these calls look the same from the couch: you flip the wall switch or press the remote, you hear clicking, and nothing catches. Or the pilot lights when you hold the button and dies as soon as you let go. Or it runs for ten minutes and shuts off. Those are different failures. The clicking one is often the igniter, the module, or a switch that isn't talking to the receiver. The pilot that won't stay lit is often the thermocouple, the thermopile, or a pilot assembly that needs to be cleaned or replaced. The one that shuts off later can be a flame sensor, a limit, or a spill switch. I don't guess from the doorway and I don't hand you a parts list before I've looked.

Before you call, there are two things worth checking, and then I want you to stop. Make sure the gas shutoff for the fireplace is on, handle in line with the pipe. Check the batteries in the remote and in the receiver or wall switch. If it still won't light, call me. Don't pull the logs out and don't take the burner apart. Gas parts are not a Saturday project.

On the visit I test the safety circuit, watch the pilot flame or the spark, and see whether the valve is actually opening. Typical parts on these repairs are gas valves, pilot assemblies, thermocouples and thermopiles, igniters, and control modules. Sometimes the fix is smaller: a dead receiver, a remote that lost its pairing, or a wall switch that failed. I'll say which it is, what the repair takes, and you can decide. Clear communication, no high-pressure upsell.

Cracked ceramic glass is a different visit, but I replace fireplace glass when I can match the size. The quote is by phone. We price match written local quotes.

I work alone on purpose. You won't get a call center, and you won't get a different person at the door than the one you talked to. You work with me, start to finish.

Signs you need this

  • It won't light at all
  • The pilot lights and then goes out
  • You hear clicking and get no flame
  • The flame is weak, lazy, or uneven
  • It runs, then shuts off on its own
  • The remote or wall switch does nothing

What I do

I diagnose first. The parts I replace most often are gas valves, pilot assemblies, thermocouples and thermopiles, igniters, and control modules. If the real problem is a switch, a receiver, or batteries, that's what I tell you. I also handle fireplace glass replacement.
